On Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017 voters are urged to get out, and exercise their right to vote in Louisiana. What's on the ballot? There's two men left standing in the race for the next Louisiana State Treasurer. This position was previously held by Republican John Kennedy, who was recently elected to the U.S. Senate. Seeking to fill Kennedy's seat are Democrat Derrick Edwards (see qualifications), and Republican John Schroder (See qualifications) in the runoff election.

During the General Election, on Oct. 14, 2017 Edwards took 31% of the vote, Schroder received 24%.

Voters across the state will also decide on various bonds and property taxes, in each Parish. CALCASIEU PARISH will decide on 1 or 2, School District bonds and taxes in each of the following districts:

School District No. 23 -- $56.3M Bond - SB - 20 Yrs.: Shall School District No. 23 of Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana ("District"), incur debt and issue bonds in an amount not exceeding Fifty-Six Million, Three Hundred Thousand ($56,300,000) Dollars, in one or more series, for a period not exceeding twenty (20) years from date thereof, with interest at a rate or rates not exceeding eight (8%) percent per annum, for the purpose of acquiring and/or improving lands for buildings and playgrounds, purchasing, erecting, enlarging and/or improving school buildings and other related facilities and necessary equipment and furnishings therefor, title to which shall be in the public, which bonds shall be general obligations of the District and will be retired with, paid from and secured by ad valorem taxes estimated to be 9.10 mills for the first year, on all taxable property within the District sufficient in rate and amount to pay said bonds in principal and interest, as provided by Article VI, Section 33 of the 1974 Louisiana Constitution, as amended, and statutory authority supplemental thereto?

School District No. 31 -- $46M Bond - SB - 20 Yrs.: Shall School District No. 31 of Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana ("District"), incur debt and issue bonds in an amount not exceeding Forty-Six Million ($46,000,000) Dollars, in one or more series, for a period not exceeding twenty (20) years from date thereof, with interest at a rate or rates not exceeding eight (8%) percent per annum, for the purpose of acquiring and/or improving lands for buildings and playgrounds, purchasing, erecting, enlarging and/or improving school buildings and other related facilities and necessary equipment and furnishings therefor, title to which shall be in the public, which bonds shall be general obligations of the District and will be retired with, paid from and secured by ad valorem taxes estimated to be 27.60 mills for the first year, on all taxable property within the District sufficient in rate and amount to pay said bonds in principal and interest, as provided by Article VI, Section 33 of the 1974 Louisiana Constitution, as amended, and statutory authority supplemental thereto?

School Dist. No. 33 -- $50.8M Bond - SB - 20 Yrs.: Shall School District No. 33 of Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana ("District"), incur debt and issue bonds in an amount not exceeding Fifty Million, Eight Hundred Thousand ($50,800,000) Dollars, in one or more series, for a period not exceeding twenty (20) years from date thereof, with interest at a rate or rates not exceeding eight (8%) percent per annum, for the purpose of acquiring and/or improving lands for buildings and playgrounds, purchasing, erecting, enlarging and/or improving school buildings and other related facilities and necessary equipment and furnishings therefor, title to which shall be in the public, which bonds shall be general obligations of the District and will be retired with, paid from and secured by ad valorem taxes estimated to be 26.9 mills for the first year, on all taxable property within the District sufficient in rate and amount to pay said bonds in principal and interest, as provided by Article VI, Section 33 of the 1974 Louisiana Constitution, as amended, and statutory authority supplemental thereto?

No. 2 -- $23.1M Bond - SB - 20 Yrs.: Shall School District No. 34 of Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana ("District"), incur debt and issue bonds in an amount not exceeding Twenty-Three Million, One Hundred Thousand ($23,100,000) Dollars, in one or more series, for a period not exceeding twenty (20) years from the date thereof, with interest at a rate not exceeding eight (8%) percent per annum, said bond authorized for the purpose of acquiring and/or improving lands for a Ninth (9th) Grade School Complex and playgrounds, purchasing, erecting, enlarging and/or improving school buildings and other school related facilities within and for said District, and acquiring necessary equipment and furnishings therefor, title to which shall be in the public, which said bonds shall be retired with, paid from and secured by ad valorem taxes on all taxable property within the limits of the District, sufficient in rate and amount to pay said bonds in principal and interest, with the estimated millage rate to be 4.12 mills in the first year of issue?

FPD No. One of Wd. Six (Bond) -- $3.8M Bond - BOC - 20 Yrs.: Shall Fire Protection District No. One of Ward Six of the Parish of Calcasieu, Louisiana, incur debt and issue bonds in an amount not exceeding $3,800,000 for a period not to exceed twenty (20) years from the date thereof, with interest at a rate not exceeding 5.0% per annum, for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, improving, maintaining or operating fire protection facilities, machinery and equipment, including both real and personal property, and purchasing fire trucks and other firefighting equipment to be used in giving fire protection to the property within the District, title to which shall be in the public, which said bonds shall be retired with, paid from and secured by an ad valorem tax on all taxable property within the limits of Fire Protection District No. One of Ward Six of Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, sufficient in rate and amount to pay said bonds in principal and interest, with the estimated millage rate to be 10.58 in the first year of issue?

Eight (Millage) -- 8.72 Mills - BOC - 10 Yrs.: Shall Recreation District No. One of Ward Eight of Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, levy and collect a tax of 8.72 mills for a period of ten (10) years beginning in 2018, in excess of and in addition to other taxes levied by the District, with collections from the levy of the tax estimated to be $274,795 for one entire year, for the purpose of maintaining and operating recreational facilities, including both movable and immovable property, owned or used by the District, title to which shall be in the public?

No. 4 of Wd. 1 -- 5.00 Mills Renewal - BOC - 10 Yrs.: Shall Community Center and Playground District No. Four of Ward One of Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, renew, levy and collect not exceeding 5.00 mills ad valorem tax on all taxable property within said District for a period not to exceed ten (10) years beginning January 1, 2018, with collections from the renewed levy estimated to be $451,557.00 for one entire year, to be used for the purpose of paying the cost of maintaining and operating public buildings, community centers including parks, playgrounds, recreation centers and libraries, together with the necessary furnishings and equipment of the District's recreational facilities and for paying the cost of constructing and improving recreational facilities of the District, constituting works of permanent public improvement, title to which shall be in the public?
