With the fall season comes the gridiron of football and, unfortunately, a few sports-related injuries. Which is why Lake Charles Memorial Sports Medicine is going to extend its hours to accommodate student athletes in the area. The Saturday sports injury clinic will be open for the duration of the football season, according to KPLC-TV.

The Saturday sports injury clinic will allow anyone connected with a Friday football injury from athletes, cheerleaders, band members, referees, even dance line members. Dr. Cascio says not everyone needs to go to emergency room, and the clinic offers an alternative for patients to receive specialized care. Whether it's something as simple as stiches or a serious injury that requires an x-ray for broken bones, the clinic can handle it.

According to reports, the clinic will also be well stocked with most of the recovery gear a sports injury would require. The onsite supply room can get athletes immediate access to everything from slings to knee braces and crutches.

The Saturday sports injury clinic opens at 8 a.m. at the new Memorial Urgent Care building, located at 4345 Nelson Road. For more info, call (337) 480-7900.
