Wednesday’s arrest of new comer Bobby Shmurda, born Ackquille Pollard and a member of his GS9 crew in  New York City, is gaining all kinds of media attention.  According to TheBoomBox, when news first hit the web it was being reported that Sha Money XL, the EVP of Urban A&R for Epic Records, was arrested.

That is not the case and the label exec released a statement to clear his name and set the record straight.  Sha Money explained, “I was not arrested. They held me until they searched the studio then let me go.” He went on the say he didn’t appreciate being dragged down by the media or the fact that 40 cops bum rushed his studio, adding “  I’m one of the only few black men signing black artist from the streets and giving them a chance to do better in life.”

Sha went on to say, “I signed these kids to give them a better way in life not to be dragged down by the media and gunned down by the 40 cops that raided the studio and pointed guns at me for working my job. You have no idea how this makes me feel or look when I’m one of the only few black men signing black artist from the streets and giving them a chance to do better in life.”

Speaking of which, Sha signed Bobby Shmurda to Epic Records in July. But the 20-year rappers careers is gonna be on hold for a while as he’s facing some major charges, including gang-related shooting and drug trafficking.  In addition fellow GS9 member Rowdy Rebel, was arrested and 20 guns were seized from their Quad Recording studios in midtown Manhattan.
