Sheriff's Office Conducting Homicide Investigation

The victim of an early Saturday morning shooting at Brentwood Park in Lake Charles has died. The shooting is now being investigated as a homicide.

According to a media release from Kayla Vincent, deputies with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office heard gunshots while patrolling the Brentwood area of Lake Charles on Saturday morning, at approximately 1:00am. After further investigation, deputies located a victim, Brackus Guillory, 24, Lake Charles, "with an apparent gunshot wound", said Vincent. Guillory was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.

The investigation is still in its "preliminary stages". No additional information has been provided at this time as investigators also await a cause of death from the Calcasieu Coroner's Office.
