According to a media release, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is taking the "necessary actions in preparation for the possibility of flooding in Calcasieu Parish."

The gates of the Toledo Bend Reservoir have been opened, which is what prompted the precautionary measure in the event torrential rains effect SWLA as the week progresses.

Sheriff Tony Mancuso assures preparation stating in a media release,

“We will have high water vehicles and boats staged in different areas within the parish, on both sides of the river. We are prepared to handle any flood-related calls we may receive and will continue to monitor the flooding situation, and if need be, will increase our resources around the parish. If evacuations are necessary, we will also have extra patrols."

Anyone with flood-related issues who find themselves in an emergency situation or trapped in their home are encouraged to contact CPSO at 337.491.3700 or 911 to help them evacuate, but only if it's an emergency.
