Shirley Caesar Loves the “U Name It” Challenge, Except for One Thing

Pastor Shirley Caesar has finally given her thoughts on the latest viral “U Name It" challenge, and she loves it, but she’s not feeling the rump shaking and twerking to her religious song.

The “Hold My Mule” singer checked in with TMZ and told them that though she’s not used to the attention and really doesn’t understand it, she likes the original #UNAMEIT challenge, which borrowed a clip from a live recording session at her church. The famed singer makes it clear that she can “put up with the dancing,” but “all of the shaking, and the twerking” isn’t necessary.

In a nutshell, Shirley Caesar is a respected gospel singer, and doesn’t want shaking and twerking associated with what she stands for as a woman of God. I don’t think she’s asking much. For some reason people feel the need to desecrate everything, not realizing that’s it’s simply disrespectful more than it is shocking.
