Famed DJ Steve Aoki is an electronic dance music mastermind, but in recent years he's veered into the hip-hop scene, collaborating with everyone from will.i.am and Kid Cudi to iLoveMakonnen and Rich The Kid on the 2016 summer anthem "How Else." In two days (July 21), Aoki will drop Kolony, the producer's latest collective where he's summoned over nearly a dozen rap artists, and after working with so many rappers, he was bound to have an interesting story to tell.

While working with Lil Uzi Vert in the studio for a week straight on the hip-hop project, Steve told DJ Whoo Kid his dog attacked the 2016 XXL Freshman every chance he got. "My dog was trying to like, eat him," he recalled, laughing at the memories of his pet attempting to bite Uzi's legs. "I got another dog during that session, and I call it Lil Uzi." Last year the two worked together on "I Can't Lose," premiering it on Sway in the Morning.

During the interview, Aoki praised Uzi for his work ethic, telling Whoo Kid "that got me excited to fly around, meet up with Migos in Atlanta and work with them and [Lil] Yachty on 'Night Call,' and then link up with 2 Chainz out there in Atlanta as well. And Gucci [Mane]." All those mentioned above will appear on Kolony, as well as T-Pain, who is featured on "Lit" alongside Gucci and Aoki's partner Yellow Claw.
