In what seemed to be a ordinary interview, the rock legend was simply asked what he thought about being a judge on Idol and what he thought about it's current panel of judges.  Tyler said,

"You just have to give your opinion. It wasn't hard for me, but I would imagine it's hard for some people, and they need a manager to say 'Shut the f--- up, and just give them your opinion, these kids, they just got out of a car from the Midwest somewhere and they're in New York City, they're scared to death; you're not going to get the best [out of them]. ... If it was Bob Dylan, Nicki Minaj would have had him sent to the cornfield! Whereas, if it was Bob Dylan with us, we would have brought the best of him out, as we did with ['American Idol' winner] Phillip Phillips. Just saying." (MTV)

Nicki Minaj didn't appreciate Tyler's honesty and released a firestorm of tweets in response.  The Young Money femcee lashed out at the music icon releasing the following tweets:

"Steven Tyler said I would have sent Bob Dylan to a cornfield??? Steven, you haven't seen me judge one single solitary contestant yet!," Nicki tweeted November 26th.

"I understand you really wanted to keep your job but take that up with the producers. I haven't done anything to you. That's a racist comment"

"You assume that I wouldn't have liked Bob Dylan??? why? black? rapper? what? go f*ck yourself and worry about yourself babe."

"LOL lets make him a shirt that says "No Coloreds Allowed" then escort him down 2 Barbara Walters so he can tell how he was threatened w/guns"

"When Steven 1st went on Idol he was ridiculed by his peers & fans alike. Called a sell out. So what does he do? Ridicule the next judge." (Twitter)

Nicki's outrage didn't go un-noticed.  Yesterday while being interviewed on the Canadian show ETalk, Tyler actually apologized to Nicki and was surprised she took his comment as being racist.  Tyler said:

So far, Nicki hasn't responded or given any indication that she will accept Steven Tyler's apology.  However, T-Boz of TLC doesn't think Nicki should be judging American Idol either.  As a matter of fact, T-Boz had some choice words for Nicki as well.  Sitting down with Max in London T throw some shade Nicki's way and this is what she had to say:

"Just because you're on TV gyrating and boning and sucking p*nises, it's not talent, honey. Maybe in the porn industry, but over here, we entertain. I don't respect half [of] the people I've seen lately. How the hell is she gon' tell me what I should be doing when her azz can't even sing. Why is she there? And then...now they've got rappers that don't even sing judging? So, this is totally based off of popularity I guess. I mean, to each their own. Get your money, honey. All I'm saying is, I will never watch [your] shows again. (Youtube)

Here's a snippet from that interview.

What do you think?  Was Steven out of line?  Was his statement racist or did Nicki take it wrong?  Should Nicki be judging a singing contest?  What about T-Boz, should she have said what she said?  Give us your thoughts.
