According to a press release, on August 25th, CPSO deputies were called out to Sulphur in reference to a theft. The victim told deputies someone stole large amounts of metal stored on a vacant lot he owns. After further investigation deputies located some of the metal as well as a rented excavator in the woods behind the victims lot. 

According to the press release, the equipment was rented to 42-year-old, Damon W. Dailey of Sulphur. Deputies visited Dailey at his home and questioned him, where they also located some of the stolen metal and a utility trailer that had also been reported stolen. CPSO’S Kim Myers also said, "Dailey confirmed to detectives he had stolen $75,000 worth of metal, cutting it up and selling it to a local scrap yard." Dailey was arrested and booked for criminal trespass; theft over $1500; and simple criminal damage to property.

A Judge set Dailey’s bond at $30,000.
