In the off-season head coach Darnell Lee spent a great deal of time working on revamping the team. “The loss to Columbus last July was a bitter pill to swallow,” Lee said. “We have worked hard on making the Swashbucklers more competitive for 2011. Training camp so far shows we have a group of players who are talented and hungry for a championship. I am pleased with the chemistry and how it’s developing. Though the SIFL has grown in the past year we look upon this as another challenge that we will meet. We have great fans in our area and we want to meet their expectations.”

Along with the Swashbucklers other returning teams in the SIFL include the aforementioned Lions, Panthers and Lafayette Wildcatters. Among the many new teams in the league include the Trenton Steel, Richmond Raiders, and veteran teams coming on board such the Corpus Christi Hammerheads, whom the Bucs have met on the field before.

“The Swashbucklers is a team I am proud to be associated with,” said owner and President Thom Hager. “We have achieved a lot in the last seven years but our mission continues. This team brings to our fans very affordable family entertainment along with our brand of exciting indoor football action. We intend on giving our best shot at every opponent we face in 2011. I am ready and eager for the season to begin.”
