During the ongoing coverage of the Boston marathon tragedy, reports surfaced that one of the bombers, Tamerlan Tsaraev, was a hip-hop fan.

TMZ reported that Tamerlan -- who met his demise Friday (April 20) after a shootout with the police -- had an e-mail registered with Real-HipHop.com, and the gossip site seemed to force an unlikely connection between the genre and the bombings in Boston. The rap website also prominently features photos of T.I., KRS-One, Swizz Beatz and Jadakiss.

T.I., feeling understandably insulted, released a statement dissociating himself from the rap site, hoping to make it clear that hip-hop has no connection to the Boston bombings.

"Hip-hop narrates the activity and conditions of our culture," stated Tip. "It doesn't create them. Hip-hop ain't never been about hurting innocent people. [It] was a horrible tragedy and my prayers go out to the families involved."

Boston police were able to apprehend Dzhokar Tsarnaev, the younger brother and co-conspirator in the bombings. Tsarnaev is currently in federal custody.

We applaud T.I. for informing the public on where the hip-hop community stands in this unspeakable tragedy.

We would also like to send our heartfelt condolences and prayers to all affected by the Boston marathon tragedy.
