MTV announced the nominees for the 2011 Video Music Awards on Wednesday night. Katy Perry led the group with nine nods, while stars like Kanye West, Bruno Mars and Adele followed close behind. After plenty of delays, Lil Wayne swears he’s finally releasing ‘Tha Carter IV’ — and he’ll celebrate the album’s August 29 debut with a performance at the MTV VMAs the night before.
Thanks to some information shared by his manager during a recent Billboard interview, Lil Wayne is the first confirmed performer for the 2011 ceremony. After so many bumps in the road, Wayne doesn’t need any additional incentive to get the record out on time, but now he can look forward to a nice post-VMA sales bump.
