Temporary Road Closure: 5th Avenue

Lake Charles, LA. - As road construction continues throughout the city, here’s the latest closure that may or may not affect your day/week.

5th Ave. at Prejean Drive will close beginning Mon., Feb. 13 to allow a construction crew to install a new sewer line across 5th Ave. The installation is estimated to last two to three weeks.

This is a two phase closure, with traffic in phase 1 being diverted to the northbound side of the road as work is done in the southbound lanes. Traffic for phase 2 will be diverted onto the southbound lanes to allow work to be done in the northbound lanes. Drivers should adhere to flagmen in the work area who are onsite to assist with traffic, said a City of Lake Charles press release.
