Lake Charles, La. — Beginning on Monday, June 13 at 7 a.m., the intersection of Bank Street and 7th Street will close “for no more than 95 working days,” said a City of Lake Charles press release.

The work is expected to be finished before the start of the 2016-2017 academic school year.

The closure will allow contractors to remove and replace the intersection as well as 230 linear feet of 7th Street, 62 linear feet of Bank Street to the north of the intersection, and 89 linear feet of Bank Street to the south of the intersection. The project also includes lining 25 feet of the Pithon Coulee Channel, concrete sidewalk and step modifications.

Residents will continue to have access to the closed construction area. Drivers should be aware of posted signs and traffic control that will be put in place during the construction period.
