The Calcasieu Kennel Club is hosting their annual dog shows this Thursday June 5th through Sunday, 8th at the Lake Charles Civic Center.

Calling all dog lovers.  If you've never been to a dog show, here's your chance.  Well over a thousand dogs will be participating in the Calcasieu Kennel Club dog shows the week.  Come see the top dogs from all over the country and learn more about the various breeds.

The shows will start with a Conformation show or breed show, which is a dog show where judges evaluate specific purebred dogs to make sure each breed conforms to it's established breed  type and standards of the American Kennel Club.  Once the top dogs are chosen from each breed, they will compete in the group division.  Once the top 7 group winners are selected, the dogs will compete for "best in show" for the ribbon.

Every year in June, the Calcasieu Kennel Club hosts their annual dog shows at the Lake Charles Civic Center, so come out for a dog waggin good time.  The shows start at 8 am each day, beginning this Thursday June 5th through Sunday, 8th.  Everyone is invited and admission is absolutely free.  For more details, check out the video below as shown on KPLC Sunrise:
