Today in Tha Wire, it's sad news to report. Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay lost his teenage daughter Trinity Sunday morning. The 15-year-old girl was shot in the neck while at a restaurant in Lexington, Kentucky. According to reports, the shooting occurred at about 4am in the parking lot of the Cook Out eatery, when a group of men in separate cars opened fire on each other.

Trinity was fatally
shot by a stray bullet and later died at the University of Kentucky Hospital. The only good news is that three men were arrested in connection with the shooting. Lexington authorities reportedly have in custody, 21-year-old Dvonta Middlebrooks, 38-year-old Chazerae Taylor, and his 19-year-old son D’Markeo. So far, the father and son have been charged with wanton endangerment. Middlebrooks was also charged with wanton endangerment, as well as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

As you know, Tyson Gay is known as one of the fastest men in the world, and his daughter was following in his footsteps. The young girl was an up-and-coming track superstar at Lafayette High School. As you can imagine, her father, family, friends, and coaches are devastated and shocked by her tragic death. Our deepest condolences go out to them all.

In the meantime, Lexington authorities determined that Middlebrooks was in the parking lot and fired multiple shots at the time of the incident; they just don't know why. As always, I will keep you posted on any further developments in the case.
