Malcolm was arrested prior to boarding a plan bound for Tehran, Iran.  X was headed there the attend the third annual Hollywoodism International Conference, which took place this past Sunday (Feb. 3rd)  The event plays host to filmmakers, activists and scholars from across the world to discuss issues facing world cinema.  However, more and more the event is being used as a vehicle for nationalistic propaganda.

So far, the FBI is being tight lipped about why Malcolm is in custody nor where he is being kept.  Ironically, Malcolm's arrest coincided with the February 2nd premiere of the Lifetime movie Betty & Coretta.  Betty Shabazz is portrayed by Mary J Blige and Coretta Scott King is portrayed by Angela Bassette.  The original movie takes a look at the iconic women's lives and their friendship.

Betty & Coretta has been met with controversy as members of both the King and Shabazz family claim they were not consulted for the film.  Not only that, the family members say their are major character inaccuracies because of the lack of communication.  Speaking of which, Ilyasah Shabazz told the Washington Post that her mother as "regal" and not "timid" as she's being portrayed.

The Shabazz family also has a major problem with the way Betty Shabazz death is played out in the movie.  FYI, Betty Shabazz died from complication of her injuries sustained in a house fire set by her grandson Malcolm.  Evidently the Shabazz family doesn't like the way the story was told and feel the network in mis-leading people.

Here's Malcolm talking about the tragic fire:
