Today in Tha Wire, today is National Voter Registration Day. If there were ever a time to become aware, educated about what's happening in our country, and become an active participant as a registered voter IT'S NOW! Today is a celebration of Americas democracy. It may not seem like much, because we've always lived in a democratic society. When people are used to having something all the time, it's hard for them to imagine what life would be like without it.

As Americans sometimes we take for granted how good we have it. What if you lived in country that didn't allow you to listen to the radio, watch certain TV shows or networks. What if you didn't have a right to eat where you wanted, couldn't go on the internet when you wanted, have the freedom to speak-out, or wear the clothes you want too? Some people around the world, live with those restrictions on their lives everyday. They don't have a say about what happens to them, but we do.

Voting is a necessary process, because this decides what people will ultimately run our schools, law enforcement, city, state and national governments. It's extremely important that these people have integrity, good character, are honest and trust worthy, because they public servants. These are people that control how the things we need to live, be it housing, food, protection/security, jobs, medical assistance, to clean air and water.

Thank God we live in a country that allows us to vote. Without this power, we are powerless. Voting gives WE THE PEOPLE control over who can, and can not work for us. So it's extremely important, that ALL OF US appreciate, and participate in the voting process. If not, America's democracy will collapse. Are you prepared to live in a country where nothing and no one is free to do anything?
