Market Engineering Manager

Job summary:

Townsquare Media Lake Charles is looking for a Market Engineering Manager for our six-station cluster.  This person is responsible for all technical operations for a multi-station broadcast facility..

Essential Duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all Company Engineering and Information Technology practices
  • Interface with Vice President of Engineering and Vice President, Information Technology on a regular basis
  • Interface with programming and other staff to achieve desired goals
  • FCC technical Rules Compliance
  • Technical Department purchasing, planning and budgeting
  • Studio equipment maintenance and updating
  • Transmission systems and transmitter plant maintenance
  • Digital storage and automation system maintenance (Nexgen experience preferred)
  • Web streaming systems maintenance
  • EAS systems logging compliance and equipment maintenance
  • Satellite systems installation maintenance and updating
  • Personal computer, servers, printers, software, LAN systems installation and maintenance
  • Telephone and voicemail systems maintenance and updating
  • Remote broadcast systems installation maintenance and updating
  • Promotion vans and station owned vehicle maintenance
  • Training and helping staff with equipment and computer issues
  • Building and physical plant HVAC , electrical and plumbing systems knowledge
  • After hours and weekend work as required
  • Other duties as necessary

Education/Experience:

Technical training school, or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

Candidate should be familiar with Microsoft Windows (all versions), Microsoft Office, Networking concepts and computer hardware, wireless and handheld devices.

Certificates and Licenses:

SBE or computer related certification helpful, but not necessary

Account Executive description
  • Essential Duties:
    • Prospect, market, sell and service advertising air time.
    • Negotiate business based on industry ratings in order to maximize station revenue and share within parameters set by station management.
    • Achieve revenue and share goals set by Sales Manager.
    • Develop new advertisers by soliciting area businesses.
    • Service clients to maintain positive working relationships.
    • Prepare sales orders and production requests in timely manner.
    • Resolve billing discrepancies and assist in collections of past due accounts.
    • Provide regular reports to Sales Manager regarding prospective sales orders, daily call sheets, itineraries, new prospect lists, forecasts, and competition analysis.
    • Monitor competitive media to continually prospect for new account leads.
    • Follow station/company practices/ policies for processing, invoicing, calculations of sales.
    • Adhere to minimum standards of performance as established by Sales Manager.
    • Develop account list from various sources.
    • Conceive and execute written proposals.

    Required Skills/Education & Certification:
    • High School graduate, college degree preferred.
    • Background in broadcast media sales with a minimum of 2+ years experience.
    • Outstanding marketing/presentation skills.
    • Strong organization skills.
    • Must possess understanding of ratings services.
    • Conversant in radio broadcast vocabulary.
    • Computer literate.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations relating to advertising copy.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
