Lake Charles, La. -- The City of Lake Charles and Keep Greater Lake Charles Beautiful -- Team Green join the nationwide Beach Sweep and Inland Waterway Cleanup on Saturday, October 29, from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. This year is comes with a theme "Trash is Scary," since it falls on the same weekend as Halloween. Volunteers are encouraged to wear a costume while participating in the cleanup effort.

Trash will be collected and recorded from 8 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. on data cards, with the remainder set to wrap-up with comments from Mayor Randy Roach. There will be an award presentation and refreshments at the Lake Charles Civic Center. Also, an award will be given to the best youth and adult costume.

“Team Green is asking for volunteer groups, service clubs, and families who will commit to helping cleanup one of our area’s beaches or shorelines, in order to keep it beautiful and environmentally safe,” said Mason Lindsay, Keep Greater Lake Charles Beautiful volunteer coordinator.

There will be trash receptacles located at the Lake Charles Civic Center, I-10 beach, Prien Lake Park, North Ryan Street at River Road, and in the McNeese parking lot off of Common Street near the facilities building.
