A mostly disorganized area of showers and thunderstorms has gotten the attention of the National Hurricane Center. This area of disturbed weather in the western portion of the Caribbean Sea is now being monitored for further tropical development over the next several days.

As of now, the forecasters at the Hurricane Center do not give this area of disturbed weather a great chance of getting organized before it will be swiftly pulled across the Yucatan Peninsula and into the Bay of Campeche.

The forecast track models from the Hurricane Center are calling for a likely impact along the upper Mexican coast or extreme southern Texas by Sunday. If the intensity of the storm system remains status quo this will mean some squally weather for that part of the world.

The system could also enhance our chance of summertime showers and thunderstorms here in Acadiana. That's why local forecasters have upped the probability of rain and thunderstorms for South Louisiana for late this weekend and early next week.
