As Tyler Perry is gearing up for the release of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows,” a film he co-stars in as a mad scientist, he dropped by Jimmy Fallon to discuss receiving an honorary degree from Tuskegee University, stealing from Oprah in his speech, and he credit’s Chris Rock with inspiring his next role as Madea.

It was in Chris Rock’s 2014 film “Top Five” that the next Madea movie manifested. “Thank you Chris Rock. It’s his fault that that happened,” said Perry. "He did a spoof... It was a movie inside of a movie, and the people that were watching his movie didn’t show up. They were all at my movie, and it was called “Boo! A Madea Halloween.” Perry says, “So when I saw it in the movie I thought, that’s ridiculous… Lions Gate called, oh I love that idea Tyler, can you make that happen? I’m going, dude it’s a joke, in Chris’s movie… Then I came up with a concept. It’s pretty damn funny,” said the actor/director.

Below Tyler Perry tells a story about the time Prince brought him on stage to sing Wild Cherry’s “Play that Funky Music."
