Thanks to a grant from the National Recreation and Parks Association, the City of Lake Charles Recreation and Parks Department is hosting a six-week program "Walk with Ease" each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. beginning May 7 through June 15, 2018.

The classes will take place at the Purple Heart Recreation Center (4305 Avenue H), and at the Willie McCullor Landry Center (416 Dr. Michael DeBakey Drive.

The program is an "exercise plan designed to reduce pain associated with arthritis as well as improve overall health", said a media release. It has also "been proven to increase balance, strength, and walking pace; build confidence in one's ability to be physically active, and improve overall health."
