Walk for a cure, walk for yourself, walk in memory of a loved one, or walk to bring awareness to help those in need. Show your support and come out to participate in the Lake Charles Ward 3 Recreation 5th Annual Cancer Awareness Walk. The event takes place this Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at Lake Charles Boston Stadium, located at 1201 1st Avenue.

There's no need for registration, and admission is free. The entire community is invited to attend and enjoy free healthy snacks and refreshments, as well. Come show your support for area cancer survivors, those who continue the fight, and those who lost the battle. Plus, learn important tips that can help prolong your life.

Everything gets started at 9am, with a short program called "Let’s Get Physical". This is a wonderful way to get helpful info on how to maintain your health, led by medical professionals from Lake Charles Memorial HospitalKayra Lafleur will speak about the importance of working out and living an active lifestyle. Also on hand will be Wellness Education Specialist, Kirsten Thibodeaux, who will talk about the importance of getting yearly breast exams and screenings.

The Lifeshare Blood Drive Unit will be on site, for those who want to give the lifesaving donation of blood and plasma. As an added bonus, the Ward 3 line dancers will get everybody warmed-up and reading for the walk, which will get underway at 9:30am. So start your Wednesday morning with Lake Charles Ward 3 Recreation, and join the cause at the 5th Annual Cancer Awareness Walk!
