With possibly only two run-offs left in the City Council race coming in April, we are basically ready to get the ball rolling with our local constituents in place. One of the biggest questions I want to ask is when are we going to get a break from these drainage issues we continue to have in the area?

I have been here for more than 20 years and during that time, I have seen what looks like a flood area in Lake Charles. It doesn't matter if it rains for three hours or three days in a row. When it rains in the city, there are hardly many roads that are passable. This has been and consistently remains a problem.

My hope is that all of the City Council members will do what's best for their districts. While this is primarily a problem in North Lake Charles, we need to get this fixed. If it is a drainage problem, meet with the right people to get it taken care of. On my way to work this morning, I had to turn around on three different occasions to make sure I didn't get stuck somewhere.

Honestly, I feel like if we happen to have our vehicles flooded due to the drainage issues here, we should be able to forward the tow truck bill or repair bills to the city. I know that's wishful thinking, but we have to do something better for our city. This is why it is truly important to elect those into those seats who will actually do something about our problems.
