We can expect a rainy weekend in Southwest Louisiana, and because of it the City of Lake Charles will have to make a few adjustments with the “Light Up the Lake” Christmas Festival.

The annual festival will continue on Saturday, December 3rd, but the street and lighted boat parade, and fireworks will be canceled. All indoor events will go as planned, and there will be plenty of games, prizes, a train ride, and more for the kids.

Santa’s Workshop: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m., for ages 6-12, Civic Center Coliseum. For tiny tots in the Exhibition Hall.

Annual Community Band Christmas Concert: Mezzanine Room (2nd Floor), from 3 p.m. - 3 p.m., The band will be accompanied by Our Lady Queen of Heaven Youth Choir.

Lighting Ceremony: Contraband Room (2nd Floor), from 5 p.m - 6 p.m. Featured entertainment for the eventing will be teen Zydeco artist, Kaleb LeDay, the Barbe High Show Choir, Gumbeaux Gator and The Girl Scouts. To top it all off, at 6 p.m., the front lawn of the Civic Center will be lighted officially kicking off the Christmas Season in SWLA.
