By now NO ONE should need to be reminded about how important it is to vote.  The October 24 election is approaching quickly and will decide several races statewide and local from governor, police jurors, to parish president and more.  For those who are not registered NOW IS THE TIME.

Wednesday September 23 is the very last day to register to vote, if you would like to vote in the October election. Getting registered is easy.  You may register to vote online, in person at the Registrar of Voters Office ( open 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.), Social Services Office, Armed Forces Recruitment Offices, even at the DMV and other locations.

Below is a list of qualifications to register to vote:
  • a U.S. citizen;
  • be 17 years old (16 years old at the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles), but must be 18 years old to vote;
  • not be under an order of imprisonment for conviction of a felony;
  • not be under a judgment of full interdiction for mental incompetence or partial interdiction with suspension of voting rights; and
  • reside in the state and parish in which you seek to register.
