So make now mistake, who we send to the U.S. Congress to represent us and our needs is EXTREMELY important.  The Congress of the United States serves two distinct purposes: local representation to the federal government by representatives and a state's representation to the federal government by senators.  There are 535 voting Members of Congress.

The Constitution gives Congress the power to make laws for the United States.  Congress has two parts:  A Senate and a House of Representatives.  The members of the House of Representatives will be elected every two years.  A representative to Congress must be 25 years old or older and be a citizen for at least seven years.  They must also live in the state that elects them.

Now that you know that, who's running in Louisiana?  Louisiana's 3rd Congressional District which includes Calcasieu, Cameron, Jeff Davis, Acadia, Vermillion, Lafayette, Iberia, St. Mary and St. Martin parishes and a small part o9f Evangeline Parish.
