Yesterday was the annual Women's Conference at the Lake Charles Civic Center. There were well over 1600 in attendance for a day full of great panels and featured speaker Tamron Hall formerly of NBC Today.

This was a great moment for the city and for the culture with Tamron being the first African American female to host The Today Show. She spoke highly of her Texas roots and the love she had for her grandfather and also her dad. While she explained that he wasn't her biological father, he was there from the beginning and one of his fondest moments was hearing his daughters voice on television.

The event had various vendors in the civic center from Real Estates, Legal and even fitness. Gina Cook and myself went to the event and didn't know what to expect, but was truly amazed at what we saw and heard. If you get the chance to go, I would highly suggest you make plans for next year as I am sure there will be another great speaker on hand and even more opportunities to network with others from the city.
