I have been thinking about doing this story for awhile. We tend to look at rappers and associating the deaths of artist like Tupac and Notorious B.I.G with gun violence. Although that is usually the consensous, there are other things bringing the demise of some of our favorite artist. This story is to talk about the relation of Hip Hop and Heart Disease among musicians!Artist that are out there when they are performing probably are not thinking about eating right on the road. They basically have everything that they want at their disposal. One of the groups that I used to rock out to back in the day was The Fat Boys. Obviously with that name you already know what to expect and they lived that live on stage and in real life until one of there members died of an apparent heart attack. He was initially called the Human Beat Box as he was known for making music or perferably beats with his mouth. He would later adopt the moniker of Buff Love.He died of a heart attack in 1995 at the young age of 28 years old. He was apparently 450 pounds at the time of his death. Fast forward to 2000 and another prolific artist who had the ladies loving his swag passed away at the age of 28. He goes by the name of Big Pun and he had the clubs and the radio going crazy with "Still Not A Player". There were various accounts of how much he weighed, but it was well over 500 pounds. Last year we lost a pioneer of the southern hip hop scene when it was reported that rapper Lord Infamous of 3-6 Mafia passed away of an apparent heart attack. Also rapper Erick Sermon suffered a mild heart attack, that gave him a wake up call. He survived, but it definately made him take his health a little more serious. There have also been rappers who have died of apparent heart attacks due to drugs including DJ Screw, Ol Dirty Bastard of Wu Tang Clan and a few others out there. The writing is on the wall and we have to take care of ourselves. Let's not forget about the scare that rapper Rick Ross had on last year with the multiple seizures that was contributed to his poor eating habits. Any form of violence when it comes to celebrities or anyone is a travesty, but when it could possibly have been avoided, it's worse. I hope that you will read this article and keep that in mind. There are people who love you and simply want to have you in there lives. We have to be a little bit more conscious of the foods that we eat and the things that we put inside our bodies. I have always dealt with weight and hypertension, but I have really started taking it very serious this year and have dropped 40 pounds since January of this year. Another big contributer is stress and how we handle stress with our day to day lives. Try to work on adding exercise to your routine and look at cutting down the amounts of fatty foods that you eat. Simply taking small steps like this could be the difference between a few days and a few years. I am on my way and I think that you could do the same thing. Just take it one step at a time!
