Gospel legend Andraé Crouch has died.  The Associated Press reports he was 72 and passed Thursday afternoon at Northridge Hospital Medical Center after suffering a heart attack.  For the past few years, Crouch reportedly been sick with a number of health issues including diabetes and cancer, according to BET.  For more details listen below to Tha Wire.

The singer/songwriter/choir director and seven-time Grammy winner was only 14-years old when he wrote his first gospel song. His career began in the 60's and his first group was the Church of God in Christ which included Billy Preston.  The iconic gospel singer famously worked with secular artists to include everyone from Elton John, Phillip BaileyStevie Wonder and many others. Not to mention arranging Michael Jackson's "Man In The Mirror" and lending his choir The Disciples to sing back-up for Madonna's "Like A Prayer" and others.  Andrae' Crouch even arranged the music for two of the biggest movies of all time, The Color Purple and The Lion King.

His contributions to gospel music is historic and will span the test of time with classics such as "The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power," ''My Tribute (To God Be the Glory)" "Soon and Very Soon," and much more.  Andrae' Crouch has had a career most entertainers could only dream to have had, which is why he is one of the very few to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Our deepest condolences go out to his family.
