After a seven-month engagement, Adrienne Bailon and her fiance, Roc Nation executive Lenny Santiago, have called it quits.

The R&B singer-turned-daytime talk show host revealed to Us Weekly that she and Santiago, whom she dated for six years, have parted ways but remain good friends. "I am, of course, sad that things didn’t go as we planned, but we still remain close friends," she told the magazine. "Six years is a long time to be together, but we had to make the decision to go with our hearts and not be embarrassed or afraid of change. He absolutely helped make me a better person and I will forever cherish the time we shared together."

Bailon announced her engagement back in February and was thrilled about planning her nuptials. “I am so excited to be marrying my best friend," she said. "There’s nothing like having someone that makes you laugh, that encourages you, and motivates you... He’s been that great motivation behind everything I do.”

Santiago, 40, is a notable photographer and is good friends with Jay Z. He also served as the Vice President of A&R at Roc-A-Fella Records for several years.

Bailon, 31, doesn't seem to be wallowing in tears over the failed engagement. Instead she's heading back to work on her daytime show The Real. “Right now I am taking time for myself and I'm glad to be back at work with my favorite ladies and the incredible crew of The Real,” she said. "Life lessons are hard but I'm grateful that I have a platform to share my journey and hopefully encourage, inspire, or just let women know they are not alone and to never give up on finding love."

"I still believe [in love]," she continued. "I feel so blessed and excited for the new season of The Real and I truly appreciate the support from everyone!”
