Today in Tha Wire, just when you thought Sean Diddy Combs has accomplished just about everything a label mogul/rapper/designer could accomplish, think again.  First of all nobody's changed their name more than this brotha, but out of all the rap moguls and self-made entrepreneur's in the game, nobody's getting paid like him either.  Outside of music he has a successful liquor line in Ciroc and is a staple in the fashion world with his Sean John clothing line, cologne and perfume.  Diddy's done everything from running a marathon, to starring in his own reality show's.

Now comes word he's opening a charter school in his hometown.  According to AllHipHop Mr. Combs is teaming with Capital Preparatory Schools to start a new charter school in Harlem.  From what it sounds like, this is something that's been in the making for the past five years or better.  According to reports Diddy has been meeting with community officials and leaders as well as education experts, on how he could help to expand education opportunities for the young men and women in his community.  Now that the projects got the green light, the school will be a reality soon.

Diddy's Charter School will be run by Capital Preparatory Schools founder, Dr. Steve Perry, with community support.  What's more, the school will include a gifted team of educators, assistance from parents, and ideas from a variety business leaders to bring Diddy's dream to realization.  Speaking of which, the rap mogul said of his new venture,

“Creating this school is a dream come true for me. I want to impact the lives of young people in my community, and build future leaders. The first step is offering access to a quality education.” he continued. “Every young person should have the tools they need to succeed. All our children should be able to pursue their dreams. That is something I can impact with this school.”

Diddy's longtime adviser, Derek Ferguson, will serve as the school’s board president, which will also include Dr. PerryDr. Iyanla Vanzant, Mustard Seed Faith Ministry pastor Rev. Georgiette Morgan Thomas, Bank of America's senior vice president for Community Development Banking Maurice Coleman and many other prominent and highly respected figures.

FYI the schools principal is, Orlando educator, Danita Jones and Diddy says the Charter School is currently looking to enlist the most committed teachers from across the country willing to re-locate.  That said, the schools is also currently accepting applications for students in the 6th and 7th grades at www.capitalprepharlem.org.  As far as the schools student body is concerned Capital Prep Harlem will expand by one grade each year until it reaches the full enrolled capacity of 700 students, 6 through 12th grade.
