Lake Charles, La. - People driving to and from Louisiana should expect a change in their usual route this weekend, as the Texas Department of Transportation will shut down a portion of Interstate 10 to allow construction work to the new SH 87 overpass.

The traffic detour is about 2.5 miles west of the Louisiana state line, said a TXDOT news release. Motorists are encouraged to be aware of “stopped traffic” and “expect delays” as the project is slated to last from March 31 to April 3, 2017.
