Heads Up If You Live In Calcasieu Parish, Your Services to be Interrupted
Lake Charles, LA [KNGT-FM] - As we approach a new year, most folks will be off for the New Year's holiday. People will be out of town, staying home and watching New Year's bowl games, or heading out for a party somewhere to ring in the new year.
As we all know, when it comes to the holidays, it also comes with closures to services you're used to receiving or accessing each week. Things like banks, stores, and local and federal agencies will all observe the holiday. This means things like your garbage pickup days and times will also be altered.

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury (CPPJ) has announced that it will observe the New Year's holiday and will be closed for a couple of days for the holiday. Joseph Booth with the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury says,
All Calcasieu Parish Police Jury departments will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 31 through Friday, Jan. 2, to observe the New Year’s holidays.
All offices will reopen on Monday, Jan. 5. --CPPJ
These closures will also affect when your garbage will be picked up during this time. They let us know that Waste Management will be closed on New Year’s Day, which means no trash and garbage pickup will take place that day.
Residents normally serviced on Thursday will have their trash picked up on that Friday, January 2, 2026. Then, for folks who have their trash picked up normally on Friday, they will now have a Saturday, January 3rd, 2026, pickup. If you have any questions or concerns, you can call Waste Management at 337-436-7229.
