If Hurricanes Had Cajun Names, Here’s What They Would Be
Well, it's June and we are now smack dab in the middle of hurricane season, and for people in Louisiana, that brings chills down their spines. Over the past few years, most Louisiana residents have been affected by at least one hurricane.
For us here in Southwest Louisiana, the two that come to mind right off the bat are hurricanes Laura and Delta who slammed right into Southwest Louisiana in 2020.
A couple of weeks ago, we posted the list of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season's set of names for storms for this season. Here are some of the off-the-wall names that they will use this year like Arlene, Gert, Idalia, Katia, and Ophelia.
So that got me thinking, what if the hurricane's got Cajun names, what would it be? We came up with some real Cajun names of people we know and also some Cajun words we thought you might get a kick out of.
Hurricane Jolie Blonde
Hurricane Rougarou (Means Cajun Bigfoot or monster)
Hurricane Consons (Means underwear or draws)
Hurricane Frissons (Means The Goosebumps or the Chills)
Hurricane Couillon (Foolish Person or idiot)
Hurricane Who Dat
Hurricane Bourre (Boo Ray which is a Cajun card game)
Hurricane Lagniappe (Means A little Something Extra)
Hurricane Andouille (Cajun Sausage)
Hurricane Envie (Means Hungry or want for something)
So there are a few we came up with. We hope you enjoyed those. Now let's hope we don't get any of the real named storms this season.
