What Was the Most Popular Car the Year You Graduated? Find Out!
KNGT | Louisiana — Im going to take you back a few years for this story. The Year Was 2001, and My “New” Car Was Built During the Reagan Years.
Like many here in Southwest Louisiana, graduation days are upon us. A become an adult and figure out life. What would be a great way to start? A new car right? That was the fantasy, anyway.
But let me tell you what really happened in 2001 when I graduated Sulphur High School.
While some kids were getting shiny new rides with CD players and power windows, I walked proudly (sorta) out to the parking lot of the Burton Coliseum and climbed into my 1989 Ford F-250. That truck was built like a tank, sounded like a freight train (just ask anyone who knew me in the early 2000’s), and drank gas like a cowboy at happy hour. Even though she was older than most of my teachers, she got the job done… most of the time.

I didn’t have Bluetooth. I didn’t have a touchscreen. I had two windows you cranked by hand and an A/C system well lets just say, it got hot in the summer time.
But man, that truck had character. It had dents, scratches, a squeaky door, and a glovebox full of cassette tapes and crushed Taco Bell napkins. I knew I wasn’t the coolest kid in the parking lot, but I was the loudest when I started that that thing up.
Now, maybe you had better luck than me, and maybe rich parents. Or maybe you're wondering what was the cool car back when you graduated. Well, I searched the Interwebs a found which was top selling cars by year. Lets break it down to see what we should have been driving.
