This Texas City Is Most At Risk During Nuclear War
With wars happening between Ukraine and Russia, fighting in the Middle East, and China threatening to invade Taiwan, the world is facing a lot of tension. It's the closest we've been to a larger war in the past 100 years. The Daily Mail looked at data and ranked the 15 U.S. cities most at risk in a nuclear war. One Louisiana city made the list.
According to an analysis reported by DailyMail.com, Ranked #6 on the list is the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land region in Texas. This densely populated area includes three major cities located about 20 miles apart, with a combined population exceeding six million people.
One reason this region could be a target is its proximity to the South Texas Project Nuclear Generating Station, located just 65 miles away. In a nuclear strike, this power plant could become a critical target due to its strategic importance.
According to experts, the area ranks as the seventh worst for potential evacuation scenarios. A nuclear attack there could cause around 330,850 deaths and 693,340 injuries, making it one of the deadliest potential strike zones in the U.S.
