Update On Closure Of Popular Wine Store In Lake Charles

Last week we reported that a popular wine store in Lake Charles, Louisiana had announced that it was closing. Since our report, the current owner contacted us to clarify the news they had previously announced on social media.

Mr. Strong told us,

The Wine Store is NOT closing permanently. Since the post of December 16, 2024, we finalized an agreement to sell the business to a local resident on 12/30/2024. We are closed temporarily while he completes the permitting and inspection requirements with the city and state and a few renovations to the store. Reopening will most likely occur in February.

The Store we are talking about is called The Wine Store which is located at 4402 Nelson Road in Lake Charles. It was right behind a donut shop in South Lake Charles.

In a statement on the store's Facebook page, the owners said,

With a heavy heart, we announce the closing of The Wine Store after December 31st.

The store featured all types of wine and spirits and also had a bar inside of the store. The Wine Store would host tastings and have live music from local country, blues, and other genres of music artists from Southwest Louisiana.

They served Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana with hard-to-find wines, spirits, beer, and other rare items.  We are happy to hear that someone else will be taking over the reins and re-opening the store soon.
