72 Year Old Food Delivery Company In Texas Closing For Good
A company that has delivered food to customers houses in Texas for seven decades is calling it quits and closing down operations next month.
The company's final deliveries will be made on November 8. It's going to be sad day for many Americans as this company has been used by generations of families.
This company is known by a different name today, Yelloh, but most Americans will remember their original name Schwan's.
I had never heard of Schwan's growing up, however, in high school I befriend a new guy in the neighborhood named Jeremy. His family ordered food from Schwan's. I remember one day him telling me that they were getting a food delivery that day and that we needed to look out for the Schwan's truck. Home food delivery is a norm today but back in 1996 I was blown away by the concept. They would get ice cream, pizza, chicken strips, and more from the truck.
Fast forward 28 years in the future, Yelloh has announced that they are closing the frozen food delivery portion of their business.
I think the website Delish sums it up perfectly for many Americans with the head line of their article: RIP Schwan's Guy: Mourning An American Frozen Food Icon
Yelloh CEO Bernardo Santana had this to say in a press release:
It’s with heavy hearts that we made the difficult decision to cease operations of Yelloh. We are thankful to our many loyal customers and hard-working employees for everything they have done to support us. I am deeply grateful for our employees’ tireless and bold efforts, and our customers’ dedication. It has been our utmost pleasure and honor to serve our customers their favorite meals and frozen treats.
Also in the press release they go on to say the official reason why the frozen food deliveries are coming to a halt is, "Economic and market forces and supply chain issues caused by the pandemic".
