The Southeastern Conference will be growing by two teams in 2024, and a proposed division realignment could benefit the Tigers greatly.

The guys at Second Take Sports recently shared a map graphic of a possible divisional realignment of the SEC when Texas and Oklahoma join next year.

I personally love this idea. Number one because it makes sense, it divides the conference in half with a clear border of east and west. However, the main reason I love this idea, is that LSU would be odds-on favorites to win the West Division every season.

The East Division would beat the tar out of each other all season long and we get the battered and injured East Division Champion in Atlanta every season on our way to the playoffs. BTW, the college football playoffs will expand to 12 teams next season as well.

Not everybody agrees with me, let's take a look at some of the comments:

When the dust settles after Texas and Oklahoma join next year, I don't think the SEC will make this drastic of a change to their divisions. As LSU fans we would love this, however, if the proposed realignment happened like the graphic above, the east would be so much more powerful than the west. Essentially the SEC would be making the same grave mistake that the Big Ten did years ago when they aligned their conference with one dominant side and didn't spread the wealth. Every year the Big Ten conference championship game is a joke.

I would love to see Texas be in the same division as the Tigers. We have a past with the Longhorns after they proclaimed that they were "DB U". Disrespect is the secret sauce to cook up the perfect division rivalry game.
