At the beginning of their travels, they made the rookie mistake for starting their journey in Shreveport.  It didn't take long for them to find the error of their ways from the comment section of their first photo announcing their stop on Facebook. Louisiana residents from all over the Boot warned them of the dangers of Shreveport and how they would do better just driving through the city and leave it in the rearview mirror.

They didn't heed the warnings, and their hotel room looked like the Hollywood set from a horror movie. Luckily, someone from Lake Charles watched the video of their hotel tour and invited them down to The Chuck. This saint single-handedly saved the Louisiana experience for Josh & Jase.

So, on their travels down to Lake Charles, they encountered the Calcasieu River Bridge on I-10. The bridge has a terrible reputation with locals and frequent I-10 travelers, so imagine coming from another country and seeing this bridge for the first time. It's got to be very intimidating.

I think we can all remember our first time driving over the Calcasieu River Bridge.  When I was a fresh new driver, I had a manual transmission Ford Ranger, and I was driving with my best friend Jeremy.  I still wasn't the best a shifting and using the clutch, and wouldn't you know, there was a traffic jam on the bridge (go figure, right). To say I was scared out of my mind would be a severe understatement. Jeremy had way more experience than me with a manual transmission, so I told him to jump out and we were going to change seats. He declined my frantic notion, and claimed "I needed to learn", which was the last thing I wanted to hear.  A long story short, I must have died out at least 100 times on that bridge before we got to the top.

Josh & Jase approached the Calcasieu River Bridge with eyes the size of softballs. They said it looked like the bridge extended into space and called it "the stairway to heaven", lol.
