South Louisiana Residents Launching Initiative To Help Save The Cajun French Language
(KHLA - Lake Charles, Louisiana) - There's no denying that the Cajun French language is slowly dying off in South Louisiana and is being threatened with extinction.
Cajun French has played a huge part in the past, helping shape the culture on the Bayou State.

However, the language is not being passed down to younger generations in Louisiana.
KPLC is reporting that Allen Parish residents are launching an initiative to help save the Cajun French language in Louisiana.

Melody LaFleur, a Title I coordinator for the Allen Parish School Board, told KPLC that the language spoken by her grandparents is worth saving.
LaFleur is part of a group of Allen Parish residents committed to ensuring that as many people as possible can speak the language of their ancestors. The group is planning a number of free, introductory Cajun French seminars to help achieve this goal.
Everyone, including families, parents, kids, and people of all ages, are welcome to attend the free workshops. It doesn't require any prior speaking experience.
