My son completed the SOWELA dual enrollment program at Sam Houston High School his Senior year. McNeese has accepted all of his college credits he earned from the program, and he will now be starting his college journey with a leg up on most of his peers. He loved the dual enrollment program with SOWELA because he could do it online at the Sam Houston campus, so he didn't have to drive back and forth.

SOWELA explains on their website:

Dual Enrollment is a program that allows a high school student to enroll in college level courses for which dual credit (both college and high school credit) is earned on the student's secondary and postsecondary academic record. The credits that students earn will be applicable toward high school graduation and acceptable toward a college degree or technical certificate.

Area High school students and their families can take advantage of SOWELA's Dual Enrollment Tour, which allows them to see several program areas, meet instructors, register for dual enrollment programs, and learn about the advantages of dual enrollment.

All SWLA high school students and their families, whether enrolled in public, private, or homeschool programs, are welcome to attend Tuesday, July 8, at 10:00am at the main campus in Lake Charles.

At my son's graduation a few months ago, several kids in his class really put their nose to the grindstone and earned an associate's degree from SOWELA while in High School.  The opportunities are endless and exciting with this program.
