Sowela in Lake Charles, Louisiana Breaks Summer Enrollment Record
(KHLA - Lake Charles, Louisiana) - Sowela Technical Community College has seen a huge growth in student enrollment this summer. We have all the details.
Students enrolling in short-term workforce training programs like Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Nurse Assistant, and Commercial Driver's License training, according to Sowela, is a major contributor to the rise in enrollment this summer. And they don't foresee that trend slowing down anytime soon.
In fact, the Aviation Maintenance program saw a 200% increase this summer semester. Business Administration grew 74.7% and their Culinary Arts program grew by over 63 percent. Overall, the college has seen a 28.5% increase in enrollment from last year.
Sowela Chancellor Neil Aspinwall told the American Press:
The continued enrollment growth further substantiates the critical and key role the institution plays in workforce development.
He continued by saying that the community college is essential to the Southwest Louisiana region's business and industry because it provides a highly qualified and skilled workforce.
