According to KPCL-TV, the Lake Charles Police Department have plans to purchase body cameras for their officers. It will broaden the spectrum of what’s recorded outside of the dash-cams in their police units, of which they plan to keep as well.

Deputy Chief Mark Kraus told KPLC,

“We have a policy that says if you interact with the public in any fashion whatsoever regarding a police matter, that it shall be video recorded and audio."

The department has tested cameras, but are looking to buy cameras that are small enough to potentially fit on an officers shoulder, and also record good quality audio as well.

The ultimate plan seems to be as KPLC put it,  "to capture more accurate police-citizen interactions."
