A shooting on Friday in Lake Charles sends a victim to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, as investigators search for the identity of the shooter.

The Lake Charles Police Department was called out to a shooting on the evening of August 3, at approximately 6:39 p.m., in the 1800 block of Broadmoor Drive. The victim, a woman, was "...involved in an altercation with an unknown group of individuals over a cell phone," said a media release.

An unknown black man reportedly approached the victim and fired one shot from a handgun, striking her in the leg. The victim was transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

The identity of the suspect is unknown, and LCPD requests anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact Detective Colby Thompson at 337.491.1311.
