The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) along with the Joint Terrorism Task Force, are investigating two incidents this month where an unmanned aircraft (drone) was seen flying over a local industry. The agencies were contacted separately on March 3 at about 2 p.m., and on March 16 at about 10 a.m. in reference to the violation.

In a press release from CPSO it states,

It is against Louisiana law to use an unmanned aircraft system to conduct surveillance, gather or collect information, and photograph or record a targeted facility without prior written consent of the owner of the facility.

You may however, use an unmanned aircraft to conduct surveillance, gather or collect information, and photograph or record your own property.

If you have any information regarding the unlawful use of the particular drone, contact Detective Joey Williams with the Joint Terrorism Task Force at (337) 263-4205.
