An unreleased song from Dr. Dre has been posted to Youtube multiple times since 2008 with much speculation where it came from, but the groovy tune recently caught the attention of bloggers at AllHipHop. Until today, I’d never heard about the song either.

Dr. Dre’s unreleased “My Life (Smoking Weed For Hours),” samples the classic Roy Ayers ballad “Everybody Loves the Sunshine.” The classic 1976 song was apart of the soundtrack to “Straight Outta Compton,” during a scene where Dr. Dre is in his bedroom vibing to the track in his headphones, before his mother abruptly enters his room to fuss at him about getting a “real job.” I won’t say anymore, in case you haven’t seen the blockbuster film yet.

The song is rumored to have been apart of The Chronic 2, but due to Dr. Dre parting ways with Deathrow Records in 1996 that concept never came to fruition. Don’t quote me on that, because it easily be a fabricated story. What I am certain of is that “My Life” could have easily been another classic track on the list of song’s from the Dr.

Give “My Life (Smoking Weed for Hours)” a listen, it’s safe to say this song could be an instant classic now, it pretty much outlines the story line of “Straight Outta Compton.” Maybe Dre should work his magic to gain the masters back, but like the shelved Detox project, don’t bother waiting on it.
