2014 BET Awards Best Dressed
There weren't any huge red carpet mishaps or fake Rolex malfunctions at the 2014 BET Awards Sunday night (June 29), so the focus was more on how the celebrities showed out during the occasion. The best dressed stood out based on creativity and class.
Whether they were grown vets or newcomers, the most stylish came from multiple corners of the fashion world. John Legend's casual, all-black look was just as credible as August Alsina's classier blue tux style. Even risky moves like Zendaya Coleman's b-boy look and Keke Palmer's futuristic outfit worked well here.
Check out the 2014 BET Awards' best dressed entertainers below.
Ashanti
You could cry foul for Ashanti setting another alleged thirst trap, but this outfit should get kudos for how nicely it shows off her curves.
August Alsina
This R&B bad boy cleans up pretty nicely. August Alsina told red carpet host Adrienne Bailon that this gentlemanly outfit came "straight out the closet," so it makes sense why the royal blue suit paired with a leather tie looks so good specifically on him.
Adrienne Bailon
Just because Adrienne Bailon is a red carpet host doesn't mean she can't also be the star. The actress-singer is just that as she does her duties in this well-cut, sparkling dress. The red lipstick is a nice touch, too.
Michelle Williams
Appearances like these makes the #PoorMichelle hashtag look even more ridiculous. The turquoise outfit Michelle Williams wore to the red carpet shows she's doing just fine.
Faith Evans
Faith Evans looked particularly grown and sexy in her cream outfit when she hit the red carpet. That bra-exposing blazer shows that the R&B veteran is still here and in control.
Pharrell Williams
Many people weren't thinking about the hat's versatility when Pharrell Williams debuted it at the 2014 Grammys. However, Pharrell did, and although he wore a smaller version during BET Awards night, that hat still gives his outfits a little more authority. That includes his unassuming cardigan.
John Legend
John Legend is no bad boy but he can sure look the part. The singer's leather and all-black look is simple and effective (like his performance).
Zendaya Coleman
Zendaya Coleman is no longer playing Aaliyah in her upcoming Lifetime movie, but she's still drawing a bit from the late singer's b-boy look. It's a change up from the more traditional outfits she's been spotted wearing. The confidence with which she rocks it makes it work though.
Keke Palmer
It was as if Janelle Monae and Keke Palmer met up prior to the BET Awards because the sheer panels of this young entertainer's dress embody Afro-futurism. Palmer doesn't look the least bit out of place in this outfit either.
Tatyanna Ali
Style expert Lloyd Boston wasn't exaggerating when he praised Tatyana Ali on the red carpet. The singer-actress' long, revealing pink dress showed off her best assets, and she glowed as she made her appearance.
